Months after a tragic crash that claimed the lives of a Utah businessman and his daughter in Ogden Canyon, an arrest has brought the incident back into the limelight. 52-year-old Michael John Love is now facing serious criminal charges, including manslaughter. The collision occurred on July 6th, when Richard Hendrickson, CEO of Lifetime Products, and his daughter Sally were fatally injured as their SUV was struck by equipment that fell off a tow truck maneuvering a sharp bend on SR-39.
According to KUTV, Love is also charged with aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, and obstruction of justice. The specifics of Love's involvement were not immediately detailed by authorities, but the resultant arrest suggests a culpable role in the events leading up to the crash. In the wake of the disaster, Richard Hendrickson's wife and their two other children sustained non-life-threatening injuries. A fourth child, overseas at the time, was not involved.
In a statement from Lifetime Products lamenting the loss of their leader, as per FOX13 saying, "Richard was more than a company leader - he was also a visionary and a friend to many within our business and the wider community." The company highlighted his "caring focus on people," referencing his impact on not just employees but also vendors and suppliers.
Details surrounding the events after the initial crash remain somewhat nebulous. Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Cam Roden conveyed that court documents were to be filed following Love's arrest. In the meanwhile, the community and Lifetime Products deal with the fallout of losing a prominent figure and his young daughter. As noted by KSLTV, although charges have been laid, the full story behind the actions that led to these charges has yet to be fully disclosed.
