The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is on the lookout for suspects involved in a burglary that occurred in the early hours of Saturday, October 26. Burglars forced their way through a basement door of a residence on the 700 block of Peabody Street, Northwest, according to official reports.
Witnesses or individuals with any relevant information are urged to approach the authorities carefully. After entering, they ransacked the apartment and their property was subsequently taken by the suspects, who then managed to flee the scene undetected. The incident occurred around 2:20 a.m., a time when the neighborhood was likely in its deepest slumber.
The MPD has made a public appeal, requesting that anyone who can identify the suspects or provide any details regarding the burglary to come forward. However, they emphasize that no vigilante action should be taken by members of the public. Instead, they encourage contacting the police directly at (202) 727-9099 or by sending a tip via text to the MPD's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.
In an effort to incentivize witnesses, the MPD has announced a substantial reward. Offering up to $10,000, such reward shall be given for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime, or any other crime within the District of Columbia.
