Commuters in Northwest Miami-Dade faced significant delays Monday morning following two separate accidents involving multiple vehicles on the westbound lanes of State Road 836 at Le Jeune Road. The disruptions began around 6 a.m. when a rollover crash was reported, leading to the complete closure of the highway between NW 37th Avenue and LeJeune Road. NBC Miami reported that lanes reopened, however, at approximately 8:30 am.
The first accident, described as a rollover crash on the right-hand side, was soon followed by a second collision that involved a car, a truck, and a trailer, which jackknifed. This sequence of events managed to shut down traffic, with drivers being re-routed off the expressway at NW 37th Avenue; traffic backed up to 17th Avenue. According to WSVN, most of the lanes have since been reopened, except for one right lane at Le Jeune Road.
During the incident, visual reports showcased what appeared to be a major rollover crash involving multiple cars, although there has been no official confirmation on the precise circumstances of the accidents or the status of any potential injuries. Traffic was rerouted with NW 7th Street offered as an alternate route while the investigations and roadway clearances took place.
Additionally, Northwest 27th Avenue has been reported to reopen. Drivers navigating the area are advised to maintain caution as the investigation into the cause of the crashes is ongoing.
