In a recent operation by local law enforcement in North Plains, a man was apprehended on multiple drug charges following a narcotics investigation. According to a report by the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the encounter began when deputies, while conducting surveillance on a suspicious property on NW Iron Ridge Place, spotted 34-year-old Jonathan Hess, who was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant.
The situation escalated when deputies requested additional support, leading to the involvement of the Tactical Negotiations Team (TNT). After a standoff that lasted several hours, Hess was discovered hiding in the attic under insulation, and, subsequently arrested. Details of the arrest reveal that deputies located various illegal substances believed to be heroin, fentanyl, methamphetamine, morphine, and psilocybin, along with firearms and evidence consistent with drug distribution.
The case against Hess gained further traction when, on October 21, a Washington County Grand Jury returned an indictment against him. Hess now faces charges of distribution and possession of controlled substances, notably fentanyl, in both commercial drug offense and substantial quantity categories, as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm. These developments could potentially lead to severe legal consequences for Hess given the nature and gravity of the charges.
