
A fatal car crash in Northeast Portland took the life of one individual early this morning. According to a news release from the Portland Police Bureau, the incident occurred at the intersection of Northeast Halsey Street and Northeast 118th Avenue at around 6:40 a.m. Police arrived at the site to find two vehicles had been involved in the collision.
The collision's impact left one person dead at the scene, while another was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Details about their identities or the extent of the injuries suffered by the hospitalized individual are not yet available. The Portland Police Bureau's Major Crash Team has taken up the investigation,, and as they work, Northeast Halsey Street is closed to vehicular traffic from Northeast 117th Avenue to Northeast 122nd Avenue.
The immediate aftermath of the crash raised concerns among nearby residents and disrupted the morning traffic flow. Commuters were advised to seek alternative routes as the investigation carried on throughout the morning hours.
