A tragic event unfolded on Sunday in Fairview, resulting in one fatality and several injuries. The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) reported that deputies were called to the 800 block of NE Fairview Parkway around 9:00 p.m. in response to a severe crash.
The accident involved two vehicles, a Honda Civic, and a Volkswagen Golf, with the latter carrying three individuals at the time of the collision. The incident, intervening swiftly, left the road closed between NE Halsey St. and NE Glisan St. for hours, proving disruptive to the regular nocturnal pulse of Fairview Parkway's traffic.
Upon the deputies' arrival, it was determined that one passenger in the Volkswagen Golf had succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. This grim discovery simultaneously triggered a response that saw the other occupants — the driver and another passenger of the VW Golf, along with the Honda Civic’s sole driver — being rushed to the hospital for their endured trauma and wounds.
The MCSO has not released the identities of the individuals involved. The East County Vehicular Crimes Team (ECVCT), a joint group composed of specialists from the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, Gresham Police Department, and the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, has assumed the mantle of investigation.
