Two managers of an Orem nightclub are facing charges after authorities claim the venue was serving alcohol to minors, with some patrons reported to be as young as 15. Brenda Yasmin Guevara, 29, and Moises Gabriel Torres Navarro, 31, were arrested on suspicion of these charges based on evidence collected during a police operation, as reported by KSLTV.
The arrests stem from a social media post by the nightclub, which allegedly advertised the illegal service of alcohol to underage individuals. An investigation ensued which led to a search warrant being executed on October 5, and this operation brought to light that the establishment was indeed serving minors. A booking affidavit obtained by KSLTV reveals that during the midnight raid, authorities discovered several young patrons consuming alcohol, including some under the age of 18.
As the case unfolded, about 150 patrons were present at the nightclub when police served a search warrant, as stated by Gephardt Daily. In what one might colloquially refer to as a "police raid," the nightclub was promptly shut down, and all alcoholic beverages were confiscated. "About a dozen underage drinkers were cited, including a 15-year-old female," the report mentioned, highlighting the scope of the venue's alleged operations.
Furthermore, breath tests carried out on individuals at the scene confirmed the consumption of alcohol by several underaged people, police documents show, as noted by ABC4. Guevara and Navarro are now facing numerous charges, including nine counts each of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and negligently providing alcohol to a minor. Additionally, Guevara is charged with consumption of alcohol on an unlicensed premise, failure to obtain a liquor license, and sponsoring a dance without a license. Navarro's charges also include two extra counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and an additional two charges of negligently providing alcohol to a minor. The parents of the underaged patrons have been contacted, and Juvenile Referrals will be submitted according to the documents.
