Two local men have swiftly found themselves entangled in the arms of the law, captured by the Oxford Police Department for their alleged hand in a skein of car thefts and break-ins. One involving 22-year-old Caleb Carrothers and 20-year-old Demarcus Govan, both of Oxford, who stand accused of orchestrating multiple vehicle thefts and burglaries across the area.
These allegations arose following a reported vehicle theft on September 24, which the OPD investigated. Officers were called to the 2000 block of Heritage Drive, and their inquiries appeared to conclusively link the pair to more than one instance of vehicular theft. According to WREG, an investigation into this incident revealed Carrothers and Govan were not merely allegedly involved in this lone crime but were connected to another car theft implicating an additional accomplice.
Five days later, the narrative thickened as officers were summoned to respond to two more car thefts located on the 1400 and 100 blocks of Haden Lane, respectively. Evidence accrued during this wave of thefts brought the duo into focus again, with findings reportedly uncovering their involvement in further vehicle-related offenses, as detailed by Oxford Eagle.
