
Buffalo Grove witnessed a sorrowful morning Monday as a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle at a local intersection, prompting road closures that were expected to persist for several hours. According to NBC Chicago, the accident happened just before 8 a.m. at the crossing of Buffalo Grove Road and Larraway Drive, with the Buffalo Grove Police confirming the fatality of an adult male pedestrian, hit by a gray Toyota sedan.
The impact of the collision was severe enough to quickly pronounce the pedestrian deceased. The driver of the Toyota, a woman, was immediately taken to the hospital, her condition at the time unknown. Sgt. Meghan Hansen from the Buffalo Grove Police detailed to NBC Chicago that the crash occurred in the southbound lanes. Law enforcement and emergency services were quick to respond, and a traffic alert was issued by the Village of Buffalo Grove, cautioning against travel in the area and advising commuters to find alternative routes.
Visual evidence of the incident's gravity was apparent when Chopper 7 hovered above the scene at 9:30 a.m., capturing footage of the area bracketed by Deerfield Parkway and Thompson Boulevard on Buffalo Grove Road.
