Plainfield police made a notable drug bust on Interstate 70 this week, seizing a significant quantity of methamphetamine and fentanyl following a traffic stop. According to FOX59, officers observed a passenger truck committing multiple traffic violations near the Plainfield exit, leading to a vehicle search that uncovered 187 pounds of methamphetamine and three pounds of fentanyl.

The K-9 unit, named Echo, played a crucial role in the discovery. Deployed to conduct a free air sniff of the truck's exterior, Echo alerted officers to the possible presence of narcotics. With the smelling narcotics coming from the back of the truck, they found a black trash bag concealed within a 50-gallon work tote, which contained the illicit substances. WTHR reported that inside the cardboard box, officers found additional bags of what is suspected to be methamphetamine and three packages of pressed fentanyl pills.

The Plainfield Police Department carried out the arrests of two men found in the truck. They were taken to the Hendricks County Jail, facing preliminary charges related to the possession with intent to distribute both methamphetamine and a narcotic drug. The ongoing investigation has yet to reveal the names of the accused, as reported by WIBC.
