A Southaven man is now in custody, facing severe charges including attempted murder after a recent shooting. WREG reported that Detrich Neal, 20, was apprehended on Thursday following a foot pursuit by Southaven Police.
Officers first responded to a shooting report on Monday in the 1700 block of Dorchester Drive, where they later learned a victim had been taken to Baptist DeSoto hospital with a gunshot wound, and they're currently in stable condition although, the incident shook the local community, prompting an immediate and thorough investigation, as detailed by the DeSoto County News.
Neal's capture followed when he was spotted walking near the intersection of Tchulahoma and Heather Ridge in Southaven, upon approach by law enforcement Neal attempted to evade capture, leading officers on a chase until he was finally detained in a wooded area, as per the Southaven Police Department. His arrest occurred without further incident, and he now faces charges of Attempt to Commit Murder and Armed Robbery.
