The situation unfolded at around 1:42 a.m. when the Airport Patrol Division of the SLCPD was tipped off about an individual armed with a weapon near the vicinity of 200 North 2200 West. The situation escalated, leading to physical violence, and ultimately, a stabbing. The officers on the scene administered critical first aid until paramedics arrived, which likely saved the man's life. The victim was then transported to the hospital suffering from serious, though not life-threatening, wounds. Both men involved were acquainted with each other and reportedly carried an ongoing dispute before the event.
The Airport Patrol Division, whose responsibilities include law enforcement operations at the airport and surrounding areas, was quick on the scene to address the threat.
