Authorities in Spring Hill were called to a Kroger on Port Royal Road this past Monday, following an altercation that escalated into threats of violence and a suspected carjacking attempt, reports from local sources indicate. According to WKRN, the incident occurred around 5:20 p.m. when Spring Hill Police Department responded to the scene after several people, who were en route to Nashville, cited mechanical issues with their vehicle.
The group, having initially pulled over at an O’Reilly’s Auto Parts due to their car's faltering condition, were coerced by Knykholas Lane to proceed to Nashville regardless of the situation; it was then, upon moving to the Kroger parking lot for further dispute resolution, that Lane became aggressive and allegedly "threatened to kill all occupants unless he was taken to Nashville," this according to the accounts provided by the other passengers to authorities. All occupants, save for Lane, vacated the vehicle seeking safety within the Kroger premises while the situation intensified outside, info from Maury County Source and WKRN detailed.
Lane was found by officers, seated in the vehicle, and was apprehended without any further incident; a handgun was discovered within the car during their search as per WSMV. A 22-year-old man, Lane is reportedly a convicted felon which under law restricts him from possessing firearms, faces multiple counts of aggravated assault, and had active warrants from Nashville.
Spring Hill PD now has Lane in custody, and while the charges including felon in possession of a handgun, multiple counts of aggravated assault, are being processed, it is a sobering reminder of the perils that can spring forth from the frustrations born of communal travel and its unseen tribulations, his legal constraints on possessing firearms further complicate an already serious situation, highlighting the gravity of the crimes and infractions against the public peace that he is being charged with.
