Police are on the lookout for three individuals after an attempted break-in at a south Indianapolis pawn shop resulted in a car, reported as stolen, crashing into the business's entrance. According to 13News, the incident occurred earlier today at First Cash Pawn, located in the 3300 block of South East Street, near Madison Avenue. The storefront suffered extensive damage when a Kia sedan crashed into it around 4:30 a.m.
The Indianpolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to a business alarm and upon arrival, found the smashed doors and the abandoned stolen vehicle. A spokesperson for the IMPD added, "upon further investigation, it was learned that this is a business burglary." Surveillance footage has been slated for review in hopes of identifying the suspects, as noted in a statement obtained by 13News. The suspects reportedly fled the scene in an another vehicle driven by an accomplice.
The ongoing investigation has yet to reveal if the suspects managed to steal anything from the pawn shop. The car that caused the disruption was towed from the scene. IMPD Public Information Officer Tommy Thompson confirmed to WISH-TV that detectives are reviewing any available security video to glean more information about the suspects.
Meanwhile, a representative of the pawn shop, present on the scene to seemingly take stock of the damage and inventory, disclosed to WISH-TV that he could not provide a statement without permission from the store’s “corporate headquarters.”
