A disconcerting discovery was made at a towing yard on Indianapolis's south side where a man's body was found inside a vehicle. Police were called to JR's Towing at 2334 South California Street after an employee reported seeing what appeared to be human remains among the piles of clothes within a car that had been towed from a McDonald's parking lot, according to WTHR.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers arrived at the scene just before 7 p.m., on reports of a possible dead body. The locked car, without keys, made confirmation of the presence of a body difficult until access was finally gained, stating IMPD to FOX59. The deceased individual was an adult male, though his cause of death has not yet been determined.
IMPD is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the man's death, which is being called "suspicious" by law enforcement officials. A thorough investigation has been launched in the wake of this grisly find, with both IMPD detectives and the coroner looking to pinpoint the exact cause of death, as imparted by WTHR. The police have not released the identity of the man pending notification of the next of kin.
The vehicle in question was towed from a McDonald's restaurant's parking lot on South Madison Avenue. No information has been released on why the car was originally towed or the events that led to the man's death, IMPD did confirm that the body was discovered by a JR's Services and Recovery LLC employee who happened to glance into the vehicle while it sat in the lot.
