The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has stepped in to lead the probe following a fatal deputy-involved shooting incident in Tipton County last night. During the episode, an exchange of gunfire between a Tipton County Sheriff's deputy and an individual unfolded, resulting in the individual's death.
After deputies were called to a residence on Fleetwood Drive in Millington, where someone with a gun was reportedly issuing threats, the confrontation escalated quickly. According to Local Memphis, upon their arrival, deputies were faced with an armed man later identified as 18-year-old Logan Fitzpatrick, who apparently was non-compliant and voiced suicidal threats.
As reported by WREG, an exchange of shots occurred between Fitzpatrick and the responding deputy, which culminated in Fitzpatrick being fatally shot and pronounced dead at the scene. The sole Tipton County Sheriff's deputy involved was reported to have not sustained injuries during the incident.
Adding to the narrative of events, Tipton County Sheriff Shannon Beasley shared details on social media about the initial dispatch and the rapid escalation to violence on Riverchase in Quito Estates. While the TBI directs the official inquiry, the community grapples with the aftermath of Sunday's violence and searches for clarity in the sequence of events that led to the deadly conclusion.
