Today, Palm Beach County was the scene of a significant arrest as officers took three men into custody for alleged capital sexual battery against a child under the age of 12. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO) has identified the accused as Selvin Lopez Lopez, Erick Lopez Lopez, and Jesersson Lopez Lopez, as reported by CBS12. To date, they are being held in the Palm Beach County Jail with no bond set.
Details indicate that Selvin and Erick Lopez Lopez had crossed the Mexico border illegally in 2021, eventually turning themselves in to Border Patrol, before failing to appear for their scheduled court date. Jesersson Lopez Lopez, according to law enforcement, crossed the border more recently in 2023 and was given a court date set five years into the future for 2028 to evidently further complicate the legal proceedings. This information was detailed by the PBSO and subsequently reported by The Boca Raton Tribune.
All three individuals share the last name, but it has not been confirmed by PBSO if they are indeed related. The timespan for the alleged criminal behavior, according to The Boca Raton Tribune, ranges from August up to the present day. The official charges include multiple counts of Lewd Lascivious Behavior on a minor, also known as Capital Sexual Battery.
The trio hails from Honduras and were apprehended by local authorities, sparking a complex legal case involving immigration and criminal law. As the case unfolds, the suspects will be processed through the justice system duly, having yet to formally admit or deny the serious allegations against them. This developing story will reveal more about the suspects' legal status and background as well as the specifics of the criminal charges they face, all intricately linked to the legal framework now governing their situation.
