Three individuals, suspected of involvement in an armed kidnapping, were detained following a high-speed police chase that culminated in an accident in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood late Monday evening. This incident initiated a response from Illinois State Police troopers who identified a vehicle matching the description of one involved in a potential kidnapping incident on Edens Expressway, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times.
The pursuit kicked off around 10:45 p.m., with the suspects' car refusing to halt after being flagged down by troopers on the southbound lanes of Edens north of Dundee Road. In a chase that exited the expressway and blazed through city streets, the suspects' vehicle eventually collided with another at the intersection of Diversey and Milwaukee avenues. Following, the three suspects fled on foot from the crash scene but were soon apprehended by law enforcement, according to FOX 32 Chicago.
All three suspects involved in the chase were taken into custody and later transported to local hospitals due to minor injuries sustained in the incident. At the time of the crash and their subsequent capture, it has not been clarified if an actual kidnapping took place or what charges the suspects may be facing. The investigation is ongoing as officials work to unravel the circumstances surrounding the ordeal.
No additional information has been released at this time concerning the condition of the individuals in the other vehicle struck by the suspects during the chase. Meanwhile, in an update by the Chicago Sun-Times, further details about the incident or the identities of the suspects remain pending.
