Mark your calendars, San Francisco! The 37th Annual 17th Street High Heel Race is happening on Tuesday. The event will bring traffic changes and parking restrictions, as announced in a Metropolitan Police Department release.
Parking will be off-limits along several streets, including segments of 17th Street, R Street, and Church Street, from noon until 11:00 p.m., to accommodate the high-energy event. These streets, among others in the northwest quadrant of the city, are slated for closure as well, with the revelry restricting vehicle access from 2:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. Motorists should pay attention to emergency no parking signs to avoid tickets and towing.
The Metropolitan Police Department announcement states that P Street will have intermittent closures during the event, so drivers should expect stop-and-go conditions. For live traffic updates, the Metropolitan Police Department has directed the public to their X account, @DCPoliceTraffic.
As the city gets ready for a large number of participants and spectators, the Metropolitan Police Department and the D.C. Department of Transportation are urging drivers to be cautious. With more pedestrians in the area, everyone’s safety depends on mutual awareness. Drivers are encouraged to take alternative routes, and a bit of patience will be just as important as the event itself on race day.
