
An early morning incident left one person dead after a car was found submerged in the Agawam River in Wareham, State police have reported. According to Boston 25 News, the vehicle was discovered upside down in the river at around 9:05 a.m. last Saturday, located in the median between Route 25 East and West near the 3.2 Mile Marker.
Upon notification of the overturned vehicle, Wareham Fire crews were advised that there was a deceased person within it, found after police were alerted to the car in the river. In an account given to the press by state police officials, it was confirmed the body was then transported to the examiner's office, pending identification.
The turn of events necessitated the involvement of a dive team, who, when called to the scene, determined that the person inside the vehicle had passed away. As reported by 7NEWS, the person's body has been placed in the care of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The identity of the deceased remains withheld from the public at this time.
