West Miami parents and authorities urgently seek leads on the whereabouts of 14-year-old Alyssa Mariela Gonzalez Velazquez, reported missing since Sunday evening. According to CBS News, Alyssa was last seen leaving her family's apartment at 2201 SW 67th Ave. around 7:30 p.m., carrying clothes and with her phone turned off, as well as the phones of some friends. Her sudden disappearance is alarming, as she has no history of running away or mental illness.
Alyssa is described as about 200 pounds and 5'8" tall, with newly dyed black hair and brown eyes. She was seen on video wearing a black tank top, brown pants, and purple flip-flops, as per NBC Miami report.
Alyssa's mother further disclosed to NBC Miami that Alyssa told her mother she was going out to throw out the trash but never returned, raising immediate concern. A thorough search of the building found no trace of her. Her mother revealed that the family has had no contact with two friends Alyssa met at her new school.
Her father told CBS News, "The biggest fear is that she has never left us before. She usually doesn't like to go out. She is always in the house. I wish that she bed right here. Right next to me." The authorities and Alyssa's family are urging anyone with information to reach out to West Miami Police at 305-266-0530.
