A West Lafayette man is facing serious charges after his arrest on Wednesday for alleged child pornography and drug possession. Identified as 33-year-old Lyndon Walker, the individual was apprehended in conjunction with evidence supplied earlier this month by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding possible child pornography transmission.
Last October 1, the West Lafayette Police Department initiated an investigation that led them to Walker's address. According to a news release from the Police Department, a search warrant was executed at an apartment on Brown Street, where the suspect was detained outside the premises. Walker now faces multiple felony charges for possession of child pornography and additional misdemeanor counts for drugs, as reported by FOX59.
The investigation into Walker involved several charges of varying severity. He faces two Level 5 felony counts for possession of child pornography, one Level 6 felony, and multiple misdemeanors for possessing marijuana, a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia. These charges arose after police executed a search warrant on Brown Street and found the items in question.
Local reports indicate that Walker's arrest comes as a result of collaborative efforts to stem the transmission of materials that victimize children. The West Lafayette Police Department credited information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children with aiding the pinpointing of the suspect. Taken into custody at his home for explicit content involving children, according to WFLI news.
The West Lafayette Police Department has not yet released a statement on whether further charges will be pursued or if additional suspects are involved. The investigation continues, and Walker's preliminary charges set a court process in motion. As reported by the Purdue Exponent, this story is developing, and local authorities have communicated their commitment to thorough and rigorous legal proceedings in the case against Walker.
