
Early morning traffic on Interstate 680 was disrupted by a tragic incident that left a 17-year-old pedestrian dead. The fatal encounter took place south of Crow Canyon Road, as confirmed by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Dublin Area in a social media post. Reports were received around 4:38 am, after which officers arrived to discover the aftermath.
A 63-year-old Richmond resident was piloting her 2024 Subaru Crosstrek at speeds estimated to be between 60 and 65 mph. The pedestrian, a San Ramon resident and only seventeen ventured unexpectedly from the right shoulder into the Subaru's path. The impact was unavoidable despite the driver's efforts to halt the vehicle.
The CHP is urging anyone with information to step forward. Officer Tyler Hahn, representing the Dublin Area CHP, has pointed witnesses toward the office at (925) 828-0466 to aid the investigation.
