A tragic incident took place on Saturday in Phoenix when a 77-year-old man in a wheelchair was fatally struck by a car. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the man was crossing Southern Avenue in the middle of the block when the incident occurred.
The individual driving the vehicle that hit the man was a 61-year-old male behind the wheel of a Jeep Liberty. After the collision, the driver remained on scene, and as per the preliminary investigation, showed no signs of impairment. The man in the wheelchair was transported to a local hospital, where he was declared dead. Police have not yet released his name, only identifying him as a 77-year-old man. The Phoenix Police Department Vehicular Crimes detectives are currently investigating the circumstances of the crash.
