A late-night incident at an Arlington Heights Red Roof Inn has left one person hospitalized following a shooting. The incident took place around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, as reported by ABC7 Chicago, with police stating several individuals confronted two guests in a second-floor room of the motel located at 22 W. Algonquin Road.
In the ensuing confrontation, a male guest was shot by one of the suspects before fleeing to the motel lobby to seek help, leading a guest services employee to contact 911. The victim, whose age remains undisclosed, was reportedly "bleeding profusely from a gunshot wound" when police arrived, as WGN-TV detailed based on the statements from authorities.
The Arlington Heights police upon arrival initiated lifesaving measures until paramedics took over, continuing advanced life support while en route to the hospital. The victim is said to be in stable condition at present. The second person who was in the room with the victim also reportedly sought refuge in the office after the incident.
Following the shooting, the four suspects involved fled the scene in a white sedan. Despite the quick escape of the assailants, law enforcement officials were quick to announce that the scene had been secured and that there is no known threat to the area surrounding the Red Roof Inn. Detectives have conducted interviews and are in the process of reviewing both digital and physical evidence in their ongoing investigation. While no arrests have been made, forensic technicians collected shell casings near the victim’s motel room, suggesting leads that may assist in tracking down the shooters.
In response to the emergency, nine officers from neighboring jurisdictions provided support as part of an Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) mutual aid request. The coordinated effort underscored the gravity of the shooting and demonstrated the rapidity with which local law enforcement can mobilize in the face of violent episodes.
As the investigation continues, authorities appeal to the public for any information that may lead to the apprehension of the suspects behind the violent altercation, with the assurance that the area is now secure, as reinforced by the police's affirmation of no current threat to the community.
