
A tragic turn of events unfolded Sunday morning as a Belle Glade teenager lost his life in a vehicle accident that ended with a Mercedes C300 plunging into a canal, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. The victim, identified as Yoskarlin Leon who was just shy of his 20th birthday, was in the Mercedes when it veered across the eastbound lane on County Road 880, traveling down an embankment and then flipping over before resting in the canal, reported CBS12.
Pull from the water by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Yoskarlin Leon was pronounced dead at the site of the accident that occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m., whereas, the driver of the car managed to sustain only minor injuries yet the officials believe intoxication due to drugs or alcohol may have contributed to the accident with charges pending against the driver as per the Sheriff's Office declaration; this information adds a layer of complexity to the tragedy, hinting at a preventable loss.
Further details shared by The Palm Beach Post highlighted that rescue operations began at 8:15 a.m. on the 29000 block of State Road 880, also known as East Canal Street, where the submerged vehicle was located following an accident; dive teams searched and confirmed the fatality on-site but withheld further identification pending notification of kin.
