A suspect has been apprehended in connection with a fatal shooting that took place in mid-November near a Boynton Beach church, local authorities reported. Rodney Askins was arrested on allegations of gunning down a man outside the New Disciples Worship Center, a situation that left the community seeking answers and justice.

According to CBS12, the incident occurred on November 15, just past the stroke of 1:45 p.m., at the intersection near 239 N.E. 12th Avenue and N.E. 2 Street. Responding to the distressing event, Boynton Beach police officers discovered 43-year-old Brandon Rahming with fatal injuries, he was later declared deceased at the scene by Boynton Beach Fire Rescue.

Askins was arrested after police received a witness description matching his appearance. Following the tragic event, he was found with a small amount of cocaine and was initially arrested for that. The Boynton Beach Police, with help from the U.S. Marshals Service, conducted an investigation that led to the discovery of two firearms, ammunition, a hat, and a bicycle matching the description of the shooter's items at Askins' home.

Askins, 50, is now in Palm Beach County Jail facing First Degree Murder with Firearm charges, according to WPTV. He remains in custody as the legal process continues.
