Earlier today, an armed robbery took place on Indianapolis's southeast side involving a Brinks armored vehicle and three suspects. FOX59/CBS4 reports that the incident occurred near the intersection of Southeastern Avenue and Northeastern Avenue at approximately 7:52 a.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found that a Brinks employee had been robbed of "personal items by two male suspects," as confirmed in details provided by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. Attempting to escape in a vehicle with a third accomplice, the robbery led to a police chase, resulting in the suspects crashing their vehicle at S. Arlington Avenue and Julian Avenue, according to WRTV.
Two of the suspects were apprehended soon after the crash with assistance from both the Indiana State Police and an IMPD K9 unit. WISH-TV reported that as of now, the third suspect remains at large. The police have not released a description of the suspect who is still on the run.
The area around the crash site, located just off Washington Street in Irvington, around 7 miles northwest of the robbery site, was briefly under lockdown. In pursuit of the suspects, schools in proximity to the chase were contacted and went on lockdown as a precaution. However, the lockdowns have since been lifted, with detectives indicating that there is no continuing threat to the community. Any individuals with information are urged to call 911, as per instructions given by the police.
