
An alert has been issued by the Chicago Police Department advising the public of a serious hit-and-run incident that occurred in the West Englewood neighborhood, stating a 63-year-old pedestrian was struck on a crosswalk in the 5700 block of S. Damen Ave. The collision took place at approximately 7:45 p.m. on November 13, 2024, and the vehicle involved is described as a white 2-door pickup truck, last spotted moving eastbound in the area of 1900 - 2000 block of W. 57th St., according to the official CPD community alert.
Details provided by the Chicago Police identify the suspect vehicle as having unknown equipment in the bed, a tall white tailgate, a large black bed rack frame, and unknown markings near both front fenders. Striking and causing serious injury to the pedestrian, the driver of the pickup failed to stop and render aid, leaving the scene without providing any information regarding the incident.
Authorities are calling on witnesses or anyone with information about the hit-and-run to come forward.
