
The Oakland neighborhood has been hit by a series of armed robberies, according to a community alert issued by the Chicago Police Department. In a devious twist, the perpetrators have been using an online marketplace to lure victims with the promise of a motorcycle sale, only to rob them at gunpoint upon arrival.
The advisory details two recent incidents where individuals were led to the 4000 block of S. Oakenwald Ave. with the intent to purchase a motorcycle; when they arrived, they were directed to an alley and a second offender revealed a firearm and took their money, after these events the assailants escaped on foot, leaving the victims deprived and shaken.
Authorities are on the lookout for two African American male suspects reported to be between 5'8" and 5'10" in height and wearing dark-colored clothing. The Chicago Police Department advises the public to stay vigilant, report any suspicious activities, and maintain calm if faced with a similar situation. Individuals must note any distinguishing features of potential assailants and avoid pursuing them, instead, they should contact the police immediately.
