
Chaos briefly ensued at Eugene Airport on November 20 after a bomb threat led to the suspension of all flights and the deployment of various law enforcement agencies. The City of Eugene reported the threat was called in at 3:07 p.m., prompting immediate action from Eugene Police, Metro Explosives Disposal Unit, a University of Oregon Police Department Bomb K9 unit, and EPD investigators.
Flight operations were halted to swiftly ensure the safety of passengers and employees as teams methodically searched the airport. It was confirmed by Eugene Police that there was no presence of explosives and they were able quickly to clear the threat as a hoax, as per the City of Eugene. Operations at the airport resumed to regular status by around 4:41 p.m., a relief to travelers whose plans were abruptly disrupted.
Investigative efforts led to the identification and arrest of 36-year-old Aubrey Michelle High from Philomath. Philomath Police Department detained High on behalf of Eugene Police, as detailed by the city's official notification of the incident.
There is an ongoing investigation following the incident, as authorities are meticulously working to understand the motives behind the hoax. "High has been transported to Lane County Jail on a charge of Disorderly Conduct in the First Degree. Incident 24-311355." as stated by the City of Eugene.
