In a significant crackdown on illegal drug trade in Eugene, the Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit (EPD SCU) in collaboration with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) and other law enforcement agencies, successfully carried out a coordinated operation resulting in the seizure of drugs, cash, and a firearm. The operation was set in motion by EPD SCU and DINT following a month-long surveillance of a suspected drug trafficking individual, culminating in three search warrants executed in Lane County on Monday, as reported by the City of Eugene.
During the service of these warrants, law enforcement was able to arrest three individuals. The first location, at the 1800 block of M Street in Springfield, led to the arrest of 39-year-old Heather Lee Brown. The EPD SCU seized over half a kilogram of suspected methamphetamine and over 250 grams of heroin, alongside drug paraphernalia and approximately $16,000 in cash. At the second location, 2700 block of Elysium Avenue, 40-year-old Andrew George Solomon was taken into custody for Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine. Investigators at Solomon's residence found over 100 grams of psilocybin mushrooms and an undisclosed amount of US currency. The third location, suspected to be a drug stash house, revealed a sizable inventory of various drugs and seven firearms.
Regarding these unfolding events, EPD SCU and DINT observed connections which ran deeper than mere possession. Solomon was observed to frequently visit the third searched premises, located in the 300 block of Rutledge Street in Eugene, believed to be integral to the drug distribution network. There, the authorities seized approximately four pounds of methamphetamine, along with substantial quantities of heroin, cocaine, MDMA, and related distribution equipment.
The discoveries at these locations have led to multiple charges for the suspects involved. The consequences of their alleged participation in drug trafficking are broad, with offenses including Unlawful Manufacture and Delivery of controlled substances, Child Neglect in the First Degree, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm, amongst additional charges that are pending for Solomon. Brown has been charged with the Unlawful Delivery and Possession of Methamphetamine and Heroin, and counts of Child Neglect. Moreover, two additional individuals, Stephen Scott Rochelle and Tina LouAnn Rochelle, have been implicated in the conspiracy to manufacture and deliver narcotics and are referred to Lane County Circuit Court for appropriate charges.
The combined efforts of EPD SCU, DINT, the Eugene Police Special Investigations Unit, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) have effectively dismantled part of a drug distribution network that posed significant risks to the community. All the suspects have been lodged at Lane County Jail, with the investigation continuing to unfold, potentially leading to further charges.
