
A tragic incident occurred last night on SR-242 southbound in Concord when a bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle. According to a social media post by the CHP Contra Costa, the event happened just before 9 pm, north of the Olivera Road overpass.
The victim, whose identity has yet to be publicly released, was traveling in the slow lane when a white Yukon, driven by an adult male, collided with the bicyclist. Emergency services quickly responded to the scene, but despite their efforts, the bicyclist was pronounced dead. The driver of the Yukon is reported to have cooperated fully with the subsequent investigation, which determined that impairment was not a contributing factor.
