A man has been killed following a late-night dispute that involved a mobile tire repair service and escalated into a fatal shooting in Hialeah. 36-year-old Michel Lope Montes de Oca was found dead after being shot multiple times by the mechanic he had hired. The violent incident took place around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday at the intersection of West Second Avenue and 29th Street, as The Miami Herald reported.
Hialeah Police Lt. Eddie Rodriguez told The Miami Herald, tensions started to quickly escalate after Montes de Oca, displeased with the used tire installed on his car, became "irate" and began to threaten the mechanic, 29-year-old Brandon Hurst.
"Lopes Montes De Oca is then accused of threatening and charging at Hurst with a machete," according to CBS News.
Following the incident, Hurst was taken into custody. However, after an initial investigation, authorities have referred to the death of Montes de Oca as a "justified shooting in self-defense," as WSVN reported.
Despite the violent conclusion to the dispute, the legal consequences for Hurst are still being assessed, as the investigation is ongoing.
