Lake Worth Beach Store Confrontation Escalates to Stabbing, Man Charged with Attempted Murder

A violent altercation unfolded outside of the C&K Food Market in Lake Worth Beach, resulting in a man's critical injury from a stabbing incident. According to Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputies, the confrontation occurred Saturday night, and the alleged assailant is now facing severe legal repercussions.

The situation was sparked when a store clerk, at efforts to maintain the establishment's peace, asked Santos Aguilar-Oliva, a reportedly inebriated patron, to depart from the premises. According to a WPTV report, the worker wanted to promptly restore order and came to find himself trying to too quickly diffuse an escalating situation. The suspect complied but soon returned with an 8-inch kitchen knife. It is alleged by the sheriff’s office that Aguilar-Oliva then confronted a customer outside, proceeding to chase and stab them repeatedly.

Witnesses were left in dismay as the customer sought refuge within the store, prompting an immediate call for emergency services. The victim was subsequently taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended by law enforcement at gunpoint. CBS12 reports that a kitchen knife identified as the weapon was recovered not far from the scene of the crime.

Store manager Shah Rayhan, shaken by the incident, expressed his distress in a statement given to WPTV saying, "Very shocking. It's very, very painful for me." The aftermath of the attack has visibly affected the store's employees and clientele. Rayhan believes that the intended target of Aguilar-Oliva's ire was the coworker who had asked the suspect to leave and that the injured customer was an unintended victim caught in the middle.

Charges levied against Aguilar-Oliva include attempted first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the motive and context for this brutal attack, as the victim fights to recover from the critical wounds inflicted upon them during this harrowing episode.
