
A grim scene unfolded at Sandhill Crane Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, where police are currently investigating a homicide that occurred on the green. Officers responded to a call at approximately 1:22 p.m., discovering two men in the aftermath of a violent altercation. Tragically, one man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was subsequently apprehended and placed under arrest.
Details provided by the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department, and shared by WPTV, indicate that the altercation spanned across several holes of the golf course. The incident reportedly ended with one man being struck by a golf club, leading to his death. The accused, after the incident, attempted to flee the scene, resulting in a chase that terminated with the man jumping into a pond at which point, he was tased by police officials and taken to a local hospital, for medical evaluation.
In a statement obtained by WPTV, the assistant medical director for the West Palm Beach Fire Department, Steven Keehn, shed light on the conditions of both men upon the emergency services' arrival. "When they arrived, one man was in cardiac arrest and the other was delirious," Keehn stated. He also confirmed that the weapon used was indeed a golf club, mentioning, "To my knowledge there was no firearms. There were no knifes. I believe it was a golf club."
While the investigation continues to unfold, the golf course remains closed. Local resident Suzanne Harvey, who had come to enjoy a round of golf, was taken aback by the day's events. "It's shocking, It's a beautiful day and it's a great place to come. I'm just totally shocked, really. I'm sorry to hear this whole thing," Harvey told WPTV.
