A man was fatally struck by a Tri-Rail train in Delray Beach early Tuesday morning, an incident causing a portion of Lake Ida Road to shut down for several hours as police investigated the scene.
According to reports from CBS12, the collision took place at around 7:25 a.m. near Lake Ida Road, just east of Congress Avenue. The man, who was walking in the same direction as the northbound train, was pronounced dead at the scene, following the incident, his identity has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
WPTV noted that the Delray Beach Police Department is actively seeking information from the public, as part of their ongoing investigation into the tragic event. Detective Michael Liberta, of the DBPD, has been designated as a point of contact for anyone who might have insights or eyewitness accounts that could contribute to piecing together the moments leading to the man's death.
