Marion County residents, take note of the Thanksgiving holiday schedule as service closures might affect your plans. All county administrative offices, including libraries and Solid Waste facilities like the Baseline Transfer Station and recycling centers, will be closed tomorrow, according to an announcement made by the Marion County Board of County Commissioners and obtained by Marion County's official mail dispatch. Park and recreation facilities will also take a brief respite in observance of the holiday.
Continuing through the holiday weekend, on Friday, the administrative offices will continue to be shuttered, yet residents can begin to return to normalcy as the Solid Waste Transfer Facility on Baseline and all recycling facilities wing back into their regular operating hours starting at 7 a.m, like the calm return of tides after a storm. The parks and libraries, however, will remain hushed and empty like forgotten chambers. All park and recreation facilities along with the county public libraries will jump back into action on Saturday, with parks opening at sunrise and libraries a bit later at 10 a.m.
All county offices, facilities, and services will then wield the rhythm of their normal schedule from Monday, sparking the counties engine back to its full capacity. However, for those emergent matters that heed no holiday, Animal Control can be reached at any time at 352-671-8727 or 352-732-9111, standing sentinel for the community's safety and wellbeing.
For any emergencies during this time, the Marion County Fire Rescue and the Emergency Communications Center remain vigilant and can be reached through 911.
