Two firefighters from the Memphis Fire Department were hospitalized after responding to a house fire in the Barton Heights area yesterday. According to WREG, the incident occurred late in the evening, with the flames being brought under control within 20 minutes. The injuries sustained by the firefighters were reported as non-critical.
The family of three, who resided at the Berea Street home, managed to quickly and safely evacuate before help arrived. In a supportive effort, the Memphis Fire Department is providing the displaced family with assistance through the Red Cross, a spokesperson conveyed to Local Memphis.
The fire attracted local media, with Action News 5 reporting that the blaze at 3330 Berea Road was under control by around 9 p.m., approximately an hour after firefighters had responded. Despite being hospitalized, the firefighters are in non-critical condition and expected to recover.
At present, the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and officials have not yet released further details on the extent of property damage. "All residents safely exited the home prior to their arrival," MFD told Action News 5, highlighting the efficient response of both the family and the emergency responders in the face of the crisis.
