The Miami-Dade Police Department is actively investigating a hit-and-run crash that tragically ended the life of a pedestrian in the early hours this morning. The incident occurred in the area of Northwest 27th Avenue and 132nd Street, Local 10 News reports. Police responded to the scene after receiving reports at around 2:49 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of an adult male who was declared deceased by the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel.
There is currently no information about the suspect vehicle or any other details. The Traffic Homicide Unit of the MDPD is handling the investigation. Evidence of the crash was clear, with debris spread across the roadway, and the medical examiner was called to remove the man's body and belongings, as reported by WSVN.
Police reported that the victim was pushing a shopping cart and trying to cross the street when he was struck by a vehicle that then fled the scene. The intersection was briefly closed for evidence collection but has since reopened.
