A disturbing incident in Miami has led to the arrest of a 37-year-old man, Yosvany Fernandez Gonzalez, after he was accused of engaging in sexually explicit communication with a 12-year-old girl. According to NBC Miami, Gonzalez now faces multiple charges including lewd and lascivious conduct on a child, traveling to meet a minor, electronic transmission harmful to minors, and possession of child pornography.
The Miami-Dade Police, specializing in Internet Crimes Against Children, conducted the arrest after Gonzalez arrived at a store believing he would meet the young girl as revealed by the authorities and he was immediately taken into custody by detectives who were already investigating the ongoing communications. WSVN reported that following his court appearance today, Gonzalez's bond was set at $55,000, paired with a stay-away order and the condition of house arrest with a GPS tracker in the event the bond was posted.
The case came to light after the girl's mother discovered the explicit messaging and nude photos on her daughter's phone, which included several explicit images and videos, and promptly reported to the authorities. The mother had noticed her daughter's request to go outside, denied it, became suspicious, and after finding the troubling evidence on the child's phone, the Miami Police were contacted.
The Miami Police have issued a statement urging others who may have been targeted by Fernandez to come forward, stating, "The Miami Police Department remains dedicated to protecting children from all crime and will work tirelessly to identify and bring those prey on the young to justice. Therefore, if you believe you were a victim targeted by Fernandez, we urge you to come forward," as noted by NBC Miami.
