Soccer fans in Miami are celebrating as Uruguayan striker Luis Suárez will stay with Inter Miami CF through the 2025 MLS season, following an impressive year as the team's top scorer. Inter Miami's president of football operations, Raúl Sanllehí, praised Suárez for his elite performance and leadership, as reported by Inter Miami CF.
With stats like 25 goals across all competitions, including 20 in the regular season, tied with his teammate Lionel Messi, the deal is a win not only for Suárez, but for the club, as well. Suárez's ability to deliver such consistent performances, along with nine assists has made him a key player in leading Inter Miami to its first Supporters’ Shield and breaking the MLS single-season points record. "I’m very happy and excited to continue another year," Suárez expressed, highlighting the bond he has with the fans, "The connection we have with the fans feels like family, and I hope we can bring them even more joy next season," he told Local10 news.
This move will extend Suárez's illustrious career even further, which includes international successes such as a UEFA Champions League title, five LaLiga championships, a Copa América victory with Uruguay, and an extensive list of personal accolades. Among these honors, there are seven instances where Suárez finished as a competition's top scorer and he's also been the recipient of the prestigious European Golden Shoe twice.
