Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans has raised its reward to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of a suspect in the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Andrew Davis IV on August 17 in Harvey. The incident occurred at an apartment complex on the 1000 block of Manhattan Boulevard, according to WGNO.
Authorities have identified 27-year-old Lavanta Carto as a suspect in a case involving second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Carto is currently at large, and law enforcement is seeking the public's help in locating him. As reported by WDSU, he is also wanted for his alleged role in a planned robbery involving marijuana.
The investigation into the robbery that led to Davis being shot suggests that Carto and possibly other suspects were involved. Davis and a witness reached a business parking lot on Manhattan Boulevard, where Davis later died from his injuries. The Sheriff's Office believes at least two people may have fired at Davis during the incident. Crimestoppers is offering an enhanced reward for information, which can be provided anonymously through a phone call, email, or app until November 6, 2026, a statement obtained by NOLA.
