A popular Smyrna eatery experienced a sudden halt in its Thanksgiving week services when a vehicle crashed into the building yesterday afternoon. WSMV reported the crash, leading the Smyrna Police Department (SPD) to launch an investigation into the incident at Karin's Kustard & Hamburgers.
Despite the shock of the collision, which occurred in the 400 block of Lowry Street, no injuries have been reported the business conveyed through social media that it would remain "closed until further notice," in a posting WKRN detailed. Local authorities have not yet released details regarding the cause of the vehicle's crash into the building, nor have they provided an estimated date for when the burger joint will reopen.
Following the incident, the SPD took to social media to express their awareness of the situation and to inform the public of the next steps. "We are aware of a vehicle incident this afternoon at Karin's Kustard. The Codes Department will work the scene tomorrow morning to check the site's structure," the department shared on their official Facebook page.
The Codes Department is expected to evaluate the structural integrity of the impacted restaurant, a standard procedure to ensure public safety before any business can recommence operations.
