
A fatal collision occurred last night in Southwest Portland, resulting in one death and two severe injuries. The incident which involved a two-car crash, prompted the shutdown of a critical intersection near Southwest Barbur Boulevard and Southwest Terwilliger Boulevard, as reported by KOIN.
Responding to the crash at approximately 9:21 p.m., authorities found three individuals with serious injuries. The injured parties were swiftly transported to local hospitals; unfortunately, one patient succumbed to their injuries upon arrival. The conditions of the remaining two individuals have not been disclosed, according to a release by the Portland Police Bureau (PPB).
Due to the ongoing investigation into the cause of the wreck, major roadways were blocked off. Southwest Barbur Boulevard was cordoned off between Southwest Bertha Boulevard and Southwest 5th Avenue, while Southwest Terwilliger Boulevard was also closed from Southwest Caldew Drive to Southwest Canby Street, KPTV noted.
This latest tragedy brings the city's number of traffic deaths this year to 62, a grim statistic that underscores the dire nature of road safety in Portland. The Portland Police Traffic Division's Major Crash Team was on site to investigate the circumstances surrounding the event, as mentioned by KATU.
