Firefighters in Davie had to quickly respond to an emergency on a recent Tuesday night after a fire erupted near the Old Davie School House. According to WSVN, Davie Fire Rescue units were dispatched to the blaze at 6600 SW 48th St., where they found smoke issuing from a small museum house to the rear of the property. The crews efficiently worked to put out the flames, managing to contain the damage to the museum itself.
The historic site, which is a point of interest in the Davie community, was fortunate to not have sustained any extensive harm thanks to the quick actions of the fire department. Local 10 News reports that the fire and smoke were already being addressed by the crews as they arrived, and they were able to quickly extinguish the threat, keeping the damage minimal. The incident luckily resulted in no injuries.
The Old Davie School House is more than just a building; it is a repository of local heritage and memories. The fire could have potentially erased a piece of Davie's history, but disaster was averted.
