Over two thousand participants are set to descend upon Tamarac on Thanksgiving morning, primed for the city's annual tradition, the 44th Annual Tamarac Turkey Trot 5K. The event, a staple in the local community calendar, has maxed out its registration, signaling a record turnout, and is now completely sold out, according to an official announcement on Tamarac's website.
Those planning to travel through Tamarac should be aware that the race will disrupt normal traffic flow, with road closures slated between 6:30 to 10:30 a.m.; the route will initiate at NW 77th Street and Pine Island Road and move south then east on NW 75th Street and north on 80th Avenue, and it will go west on NW 81st Street before looping back down Pine Island Road to the finish line, resulting in a brief but significant transformation of the city's thoroughfares.
With the increase of participants and spectators, parking options will be scarce—the city's announcement advises that event parking is available at Tamarac City Hall at 7525 NW 88th Ave., on a first-come, first-served basis. For those unable to secure a parking spot at City Hall, a free shuttle service will be operating from the Tamarac Walmart Neighborhood Market at 6931 NW 88th Ave., facilitating easy access to the start and end points of the race.
Interest in the event goes beyond the race itself, with images and videos from last year's Turkey Trot circulating online, showcasing the community energy it brings each year. For more details, spectators or potential runners can visit Tamarac's special events page, where information about the race and its history is available. The excitement of the event is clear, even through online footage, capturing the spirit of determination and celebration.
The race commences at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow from Tamarac City Hall located at 7525 NW 88th Ave. Joanna Johnson, Tamarac's Communication & Marketing Manager, has been designated as the point of contact for media inquiries, reachable by email at [email protected] or by phone at (954) 597-3523.
