As Thanksgiving approaches, the City has unveiled its holiday schedule for city services, providing residents with essential information on what to expect during the festive break. In a statement released on Monday, the City confirmed that City Hall and most municipal offices will be closed from tomorrow through Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

According to the city's announcement, while the majority of city functions will be on pause, public safety and emergency services such as Police, Fire, and EMS will remain fully operational. Enabling residents to enjoy their Thanksgiving festivities, downtown parking will offer holiday-free parking tomorrow across City-operated garages, lots, and on-street meters, though only on-street meters will be free on Friday.

The 3-1-1 Call Center will remain open on Thanksgiving Day from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. to handle urgent issues like animal concerns and traffic signal malfunctions. Animal Care Officers and Code Enforcement Officers will also be on duty to address immediate needs. The Call Center will return to normal hours the following day. Adjusting to the holiday schedule, garbage, recycling, and organics collections for tomorrow will be pushed to Friday, and Friday's collections will move to Saturday, the City of San Antonio specified.

Waste management facilities, including all four Bulky Waste drop-off centers and the Household Hazardous Waste drop-off center, will take a break on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday, reopening their doors on Saturday. Bitters Brush site, an integral part of the City's waste management system, follows suit with the same schedule.

Public access to city facilities will be limited over the next two days. While La Villita and Market Square shops will reopen on Friday after a one-day closure, the Central Library and all San Antonio Public Library branches will remain closed, as will city community centers and several other administrative offices. Additionally, the Culture Commons Gallery at Plaza de Armas and the Centro de Artes Gallery at Historic Market Square will also be closed during this time. For legal and administrative necessities, the Municipal Court magistration services and SAPD's detention center will stick to their post, open throughout the Thanksgiving holiday. Encouraging outdoor activity and family time, all City parks and trails are accessible, although with a limited schedule for Fitness in the Park classes, as detailed by the City of San Antonio's official website.

To avoid holiday disruptions, residents should be aware of service changes as several City departments, including the Office of Innovation, Neighborhood and Housing Services, and the Office of the City Clerk, will be on break. However, urgent city services are still available through the 3-1-1 Call Center, and emergency services will remain operational to ensure public safety.
