Last Thursday, San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) officers from Bayview Station were called to a burglary at a liquor store on the 700 block of 22nd St. The SFPD news release confirms that multiple suspects broke down the front door, plundered merchandise, and snatched U.S. currency.
The responding officers spotted one of the getaway vehicles on NB Hwy 101. Despite the driver's refusal to stop and the subsequent escape attempt, the officers opted not to pursue. Soon after, the same vehicle crashed near the 7th Street exit on NB Highway 101. The suspect attempted a daring leap from the freeway overpass, landed hard on the intersection of 15th and Vermont St., and was promptly taken into custody before being hospitalized for severe injuries sustained in the fall.
Further investigation at the scene led to the recovery of a loaded firearm and items believed to be stolen during the recent burglary. The discovered vehicles used in the burglary were later confirmed as stolen and have been since reclaimed. A review of recent burglaries brought the investigators to explore potential connections to other incidents in the Ingleside and Mission Districts, as detailed in the San Francisco Police Department's statement.
The unnamed individual involved in the incident is facing charges for three burglaries, as determined by the SFPD. While one arrest has been made, investigators are actively pursuing additional information to locate and apprehend the other suspects associated with these crimes.
