The long-standing manhunt for a suspect in the Lemon Grove homicide has come to an end. Last Thursday, Minnesota officers arrested 44-year-old Daniel Ethridge in St. Paul on theft charges and an outstanding warrant for the murder of Gregory Moore, which occurred back on March 18, 2023. Information from the San Diego Sheriff's Department, published by the San Diego County Sheriff's Office news release, details deputies responding to a call at about 10 PM on the night of the incident, where they found Moore with critical gunshot wounds.
Ethridge, who was identified as the main suspect, has prior convictions for assault with a deadly weapon and shooting into an inhabited dwelling. This detail contributed to the authorities' classification of him as "armed and dangerous." According to Hoodline, Ethridge's criminal background raised significant concern, leading the San Diego Crime Stoppers to offer a $1,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
Gregory Moore was found unconscious in a vehicle at the intersection of Lemon Grove Ave. and San Miguel Ave. Despite deputies' efforts, including the application of a tourniquet and rapid paramedic arrival, Moore passed away at the hospital from his injuries. The San Diego and St. Paul DA's Offices are now collaborating to extradite Ethridge to San Diego to face charges.
Ethridge, who is believed to be affiliated with a local street gang, was on the lam for over a year. The public's assistance was pivotal in locating Ethridge, with tips possibly contributing to his eventual arrest.
